What is Gold Miner?
Drop the claw, haul up gold and jewels, and hit each level's target.
Gold Miner is a classic hook-and-grab game. A claw swings at the top of the screen above a mine full of gold nuggets, jewels, rocks, bones, barrels and even moles. Tap to drop the claw, and whatever it catches is reeled back up and added to your total.
There are 20 levels, each with a money target and a time limit. A shop between levels sells items to help you, and explosive barrels and bombs can help clear the way. Reaching the target on every level completes the game.
Controls
- ▸Click or tap to drop the claw.
- ▸The claw reels in whatever it touches.
- ▸Buy items in the shop between levels.
How it plays
The claw swings back and forth. When you tap, it extends in that direction. Heavy items such as large gold nuggets and rocks reel in slowly; jewels and small gold come up fast. Moles move around underground and can get in the way.
Reach the money target before the timer runs out to advance. If you miss it, the game ends. Bombs can blow up unwanted items, and explosive barrels destroy nearby objects.
Quick tips
- ★Go for big gold early.
- ★Use bombs on unwanted rocks.
- ★Watch moving moles.
Getting a higher score
Think in value per second
A big nugget is worth a lot but takes time. Late in a level, quick jewels are often better value.
Avoid rocks
Rocks are heavy and almost worthless. If one is in the way, wait for a better angle or use a bomb.
Spend wisely
Shop items can make difficult levels manageable. Plan purchases around the next target.
Getting started
- Watch the claw swing before your first drop.
- Check the target and the timer.
- Grab the closest large gold first.
- Use quick jewels to top up near the end.

Common mistakes to avoid
- ✕Grabbing heavy rocks.

- ✕Skipping the shop.
How Gold Miner compares
Gold Miner is the only hook-and-grab game on GAME SPACE, and its 20 levels with a shop between them make it one of the deepest casual games in the collection.
If you like games about timing, Fishing Frenzy also involves dropping a hook at the right moment.
Deep dive
A timeless classic
Gold Miner has been a favourite for years because its simple loop — swing, drop, reel — hides real decisions. Every drop is a choice between value and time.
Using explosives
Explosive barrels and bombs add a tactical layer. Detonating a barrel can clear several rocks at once.
Who it suits
Gold Miner suits players of all ages, from children learning timing to adults enjoying the strategy.
What lies underground
The mine in Gold Miner is full of different items: gold nuggets of various sizes, sparkling jewels, rocks, bones, explosive barrels and moving moles. Each has its own value and weight. Learning which items are worth grabbing — and which to avoid — is the heart of the game.
Planning each level
At the start of a level, look at the target and scan the mine. Identify the large gold within easy reach and plan to grab it early, while you have plenty of time. Save small jewels for the closing seconds.
A practice tip
On your first play-through, focus on learning the swing speed. Later, aim to hit each target with time to spare.
Why Gold Miner endures
Gold Miner has stayed popular because every single drop of the claw involves a small decision. Is the big nugget worth the time? Is the jewel behind that rock reachable? Those choices, repeated across 20 levels with rising targets, give a very simple game surprising depth, and they make it equally enjoyable for children learning timing and adults enjoying the strategy.
