SWAT vs Zombies review

7.0/10

By the GAME SPACE editorial team · Updated October 3, 2026 · How we rate games

Why these scores

Depth5/5

Five levels, a shop and a large arsenal of guns and melee weapons give it the most content of any shooter here.

Accessibility3/5

Moving while aiming and managing reloads takes practice, especially on touch screens.

Replay value4/5

The shop and saved statistics make every run feed into the next one.

Family-friendly2/5

Visible blood effects make it unsuitable for young children.

Our take

The most substantial shooter in the collection. The shop turns every run into progress, and the arsenal — from brass knuckles to a flamethrower — genuinely changes how you play. The blood effects are the one reason it is not a family pick.

What we like

  • +Large arsenal with real tactical differences
  • +Shop and statistics give a strong sense of progression
  • +Movement makes it more than a shooting gallery

What could be better

  • −Blood effects — not for young children
  • −Only five levels in total

What is SWAT vs Zombies?

Gear up, choose your weapon and clear five zombie-infested levels.

SWAT vs Zombies puts you in control of a special-forces officer fighting through five levels overrun by the undead — from city streets and open fields to a burning laboratory. Unlike a static shooting gallery, you move your character around the level, so positioning and footwork are as important as aim.

The heart of the game is its arsenal. Kills earn money that you spend in the shop on new weapons and ammunition: pistols, a submachine gun, an assault rifle, a shotgun, a sniper rifle, a grenade launcher, a flamethrower, lasers and close-combat options such as a knife, a saber, brass knuckles and a chainsaw. Choosing the right weapon for the situation is what separates a good run from a short one.

How the shooting works

Each level fills with zombies that close in on your position. You move to keep your distance, aim and fire, and watch your ammunition: every gun has a limited magazine and must be reloaded, while melee weapons never run out but require you to get close. Zombies that reach you deal damage, and the level is lost when your life runs out.

Successful runs earn money and statistics — kills, accuracy, shots and time are all tracked. Back in the shop you can buy new weapons or more ammunition, and some weapons are unlocked only after reaching a certain number of kills. Progressing through all five levels requires both better gear and better tactics.

Controls

  • ▸Move your officer around the level with the on-screen or keyboard controls.
  • ▸Aim with the mouse or touch and fire at approaching zombies.
  • ▸Reload, switch weapons and buy upgrades in the shop between attempts.

Your first five minutes

  1. Start the first level with your default weapon and get a feel for moving and shooting at the same time.
  2. Keep moving in wide circles so zombies cannot surround you.
  3. Reload during quiet moments rather than when a zombie is close.
  4. After the level, open the shop and compare weapon prices with your earnings.
  5. Buy one weapon that suits your style and replay to see the difference.

Tactics and target priority

Match the weapon to the crowd

The game's own tips are worth following: melee weapons such as the knife or saber are efficient when only a few zombies are around, the submachine gun is excellent for quick attacks, and a single sniper bullet can pass through up to three zombies in a line. Switching to the right tool for each moment saves both ammunition and health.

Reload in quiet moments

Always top up your weapon when there is a lull. If a magazine runs dry in the middle of a crowd, switching to another weapon is often faster than reloading, and brass knuckles never need reloading at all.

Use movement as defence

When ammunition runs low, circle around the zombies to stay out of reach, then strike when you have space. Keeping distance is especially important with the shotgun, which needs time to reload.

Quick tips

  • ★Fire single shots with the assault rifle for better accuracy.
  • ★Lasers are reliable but deal less damage than heavy weapons.
  • ★Spend early earnings on one strong weapon rather than many weak ones.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • ✕Standing still and letting zombies surround you.
  • ✕Emptying a magazine with no time left to reload.
  • ✕Buying many cheap weapons instead of upgrading a reliable one.

Deep dive

A shooter with an economy

What makes SWAT vs Zombies more than a simple shooter is the loop between levels and the shop. Every kill feeds your budget, and every purchase changes how the next attempt plays. That gives the game a sense of progression — even a failed run brings you closer to the gear you need.

Reading the statistics screen

The game records your kills, accuracy, shots fired and time, both for the current attempt and across all attempts. Accuracy is the most useful number to watch: low accuracy usually means you are firing too quickly or from too far away, and improving it stretches your ammunition and your budget.

Content note

This is a zombie action game with blood effects when enemies are hit. It is not realistic, but it is more intense than most games on GAME SPACE, so parents of younger children may prefer the Kids, Memory or Match-3 sections.

How SWAT vs Zombies compares

SWAT vs Zombies is the deepest of the zombie games on GAME SPACE because of its weapon shop and movement. Ranger vs Zombies is a side-scrolling platform shooter with magic skills, while Zombie Buster and Zombie Shooter are physics puzzles where every bullet counts, and Zombie Uprising has you driving over zombies in a car.

If you enjoy the weapon variety and level progression here, Tank Wars offers a similar mix of combat and progression with tanks, and Air Combat gives you fuel and ammunition to manage in the sky.
