Why these scores
Ten levels, three laser types, three ship types and other upgrades.
Dragging the ship is easy, but protecting the Earth and your ship at once takes practice.
Upgrades and a million-point goal give long-term targets.
Space combat against asteroids, with no gore.
Our take
A focused defence shooter with clear stakes — protect the Earth and your ship — and meaningful upgrades. The ten levels and million-point target give it more shape than most arcade shooters.

What is Space Purge?
Protect the Earth from asteroids and small planets across ten levels.
Space Purge is a planetary-defence shooter. Asteroids and small planets hurtle towards the Earth, and you pilot a spaceship that must destroy them before they strike. The game's own briefing is clear: protect the Earth for as long as possible, because the mission fails if the Earth is hit three times or your ship loses three lives.
There are ten levels, and the ultimate goal is to collect 1,000,000 points. Along the way bonuses appear: three types of laser, three spaceship types, a protective shield, extra lives and score bonuses worth 500, 1,000 or 2,000 points.
How the shooting works
Each level begins with a supply of ammunition, which limits how many shots you can fire. Asteroids and small planets fall towards the Earth and you move your ship into position and shoot them down. Anything you miss may hit the planet, and anything that hits your ship costs a life.
At the end of each level you earn extra score and more ammunition for the next one. Bonuses dropped during play can upgrade your laser, change your ship, add a shield or a life, or give you points. Clearing all ten levels with a big score is the ultimate challenge.
Controls
- ▸Drag with the mouse or finger to move the spaceship.
- ▸Your ship fires as you play — line up with incoming asteroids.
- ▸Fly into bonuses to collect them.
Your first five minutes
- Move the ship around to learn how quickly it responds.
- Line up with the nearest asteroid and fire.
- Watch your ammunition counter so you do not run dry.
- Collect the first bonus that appears.
- Check the Earth's health and your lives at the top of the screen.
Tactics and target priority
Protect the planet first
The mission fails if the Earth is hit three times, so asteroids that are about to reach it are always the priority. Small objects far away can wait.
Spend ammunition wisely
Ammunition is limited per level. Aim carefully and avoid firing at empty space — a well-placed shot that destroys a large asteroid is worth far more than a spray of misses.
Grab laser upgrades
The three laser types increase your firepower and make later levels much easier. Bonuses are worth a detour when the sky is relatively clear.
Quick tips
- ★Destroy asteroids closest to the Earth first.
- ★Keep track of your ammunition.
- ★Collect shields and extra lives whenever you can.
Common mistakes to avoid
- ✕Chasing distant targets while asteroids hit the Earth.
- ✕Running out of ammunition with targets still incoming.
- ✕Flying into asteroids while chasing bonuses.
Deep dive
Two lives to protect
Space Purge gives you two things to keep alive: your ship and the planet. That creates interesting decisions. Should you fly into danger to save the Earth, or stay safe and risk a planetary hit? Most of the time the planet comes first, but losing your ship is just as final.
Level progression
Each new level brings more targets and faster speeds, but you also carry over upgrades and earn extra ammunition. The game rewards players who build up their ship early and then use that firepower efficiently later.
Chasing a million
The million-point goal gives experienced players something to aim for beyond simply completing the levels. Score bonuses, efficient shooting and avoiding lost lives all contribute.
How Space Purge compares
Space Purge and Air Combat are the two flying shooters on GAME SPACE. Air Combat is a dogfight against enemy planes with fuel and ammunition to manage, while Space Purge is a defence game where protecting the Earth matters as much as your own ship.
If you enjoy defending something from attacks from above, Tank Defender is a ground-based take on the same idea.
