What is Mad Shark?
Rampage through the ocean as a rocket-firing shark.
Mad Shark is a side-scrolling ocean action game. You control a powerful shark that swims through the sea, eating fish, collecting stars and firing at obstacles. Distance is measured in metres, and the further you swim the higher your score.
The ocean is full of hazards — bombs, barrels and explosive obstacles — as well as treasure chests, meat and bonuses. The shark can fire bullets, fireballs and rockets, and super bombs can clear the screen. Collecting life and fireball bonuses keeps the rampage going.
How the action plays out
The ocean scrolls past as the shark swims forward. Fish and stars are there to be eaten and collected, while bombs and barrels must be destroyed or avoided. Fireballs are a limited resource, replenished by bonuses.
Every hit from a hazard costs life. Life bonuses restore it, and the run ends when the shark's life runs out. Your score and distance are compared with your best.
Controls
- ▸Steer the shark up and down with touch or mouse.
- ▸Attack to fire at obstacles and enemies.
- ▸Swim into fish, stars and bonuses to collect them.
Your first run
- Swim up and down to get a feel for the controls.
- Eat a few fish and collect stars.
- Shoot the first bomb or barrel in your path.
- Pick up a fireball bonus.
- Check your distance at the end and try to beat it.
How to survive longer
Clear the path ahead
Bombs and barrels are the main threat. Shoot them before you reach them rather than trying to swim around them at the last moment.
Save fireballs for clusters
Fireballs are limited. Use them when several hazards are bunched together, and rely on regular attacks the rest of the time.
Collect lives
Life bonuses are the key to long runs. Make them a priority whenever they appear.
Quick tips
- ★Shoot hazards early.
- ★Collect stars for extra score.
- ★Keep fireballs for crowded moments.
Common mistakes to avoid
- ✕Swimming into bombs while chasing fish.
- ✕Using all fireballs early.
- ✕Ignoring life bonuses.
Deep dive
Pure arcade fun
Mad Shark is a straightforward, cheerful arcade game. The premise — a shark that fires rockets — is deliberately over the top, and the game leans into it with explosions and power-ups.
Distance as a goal
Because the game measures distance, each run is a chance to swim a little further than before. That gives it the same 'one more try' appeal as an endless runner.
Who it suits
Mad Shark suits players who enjoy light, fast action. It is cartoon-style with no gore.
Power-ups explained
Mad Shark offers several power-ups: fireball refills, extra life, shark power and super bombs. Shark power and super bombs are especially useful when the screen is crowded with hazards.
Mobile versus desktop
On a touch screen, steer by dragging; with a mouse, move the pointer. Smooth movements help you weave between hazards.
Planning a long swim
Mad Shark rewards players who think a little ahead. Keep your shark near the middle of the screen so you can move up or down quickly, shoot hazards before they reach you and collect life bonuses whenever they appear. Save fireballs and super bombs for crowded moments rather than using them on single hazards.
Who Mad Shark suits
Mad Shark suits players who want quick, explosive arcade fun with a playful premise. It is cartoon-style throughout, with no gore, so it suits most ages and makes a fun, quick break.
How Mad Shark compares
Mad Shark is the only ocean action game on GAME SPACE. Its distance-based structure is closest to the runners, such as Ninja Run and Crazy Runner.
If you enjoy the sea theme, Fishing Frenzy shares the colourful underwater setting in a calmer game.
